Virginia Trip

Just returned from a long weekend camping and fishing with my 24 year old son. Stayed at Bear Tree Campground near Damascus, Virginia. Rain most of Friday and part of Saturday. We did manage to pick up several nice fish both days on the Whitetop Laurel at Taylor’s Valley and in the stream behind the Town of Damascus. My son took the prize with a 19" brown on a cinnamon caddis.

On Sunday we went to the Holston tailwater in Tennessee and, as they were not really generating, we waded just below the wier dam. Numerous chunky rainbows in the 12" to 16" range. Went back to the tailwater on the way home yesterday…lower downstream…and caught 20 to 30 fish each, some approaching 18". The rig for the day was a parachute sulphur with a pheasant tail dropper.

All fish except two were released to fight another day.
