Made a trip up to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia to see some family and got to wet a fly or two.

Fished Beaver Creek one evening and managed a few rainbow, ranging 10-15?. Fish were taken on dark brown stonefly nymphs and one on a crystal bugger. Nothing hatching while I was there. Beautiful creek, much smaller than I had imagined.

Hit Mossy Creek a couple days later. Flow was strong due to recent 4-5?rains and fishing was tricky. Strikes primarily came from Kreelex stripped fast from the hole. Missed 3 fish and almost landed a pretty good brown but lost him at my feet. This is a beautiful limestone stream that my 80 year old uncle has been fishing forever. ALS keeps him out of the streams but we got to spend some quality time together. He ended up sending me fishing with his old Orvis bamboo nymph set-up which was special.

Hope to get back up there in the next few months. It?s amazing I never realized how beautiful the valley is when I was a kid spending summers there.
