Visiting Charleston and Gonna Tail some Reds

Hey Guys,

I have been reading a lot on the boards before coming down to visit Charleston, but anyway, I plan on going out a couple of times July 4th weekend and trying to catch a couple of tailing reds on the fly. I want to mostly do some wading and I’ll be renting a kayak down there to help me get in.

If any of you know where’s the best place to put in so I can be in the right general area quickly and not have to paddle and get lost, that would be some great help. Also, the only other real fly fishing I have done so far with my rod (I just got it in May) was some striper and bluefishing up in CT, so I hope I can figure it out somehow.

I usually frequent HHI for The Heritage, and the last time I was in Charleston my friend’s dad beached his catamaran, and we had to wait for a couple of hours for the tow boat to reach us in some far back channel. I’m guessing it was low tide when this happened.

So, if you guys have any advice, thanks!
