Hi,

I am coming down from NC and staying on Folly Beach this weekend. I’ll be bringing my surf fishing gear and Isle Sportsman isup.

I plan to fish Folly beach near where we are staying, and around Lighthouse inlet.

I have also studied maps and have some plans for some inshore fishing in the creeks behind Folly Island.

Would appreciate any input from anyone with local knowledge for some worthwhile inshore fishing areas. I’ll be fishing from a paddleboard. Some areas behind Folly Island look “fishy” to me, much like the areas I fish around Wilmington and Swansboro NC. Some areas in the Kiawah river also look good from the air, but I haven’t been able to find a launch point close enough.

Any advice for a northern brother would be much appreciated.

Bowens island is a good spot to launch and kayak fish. You can fish for sheeps reds or black drum pretty decent around that area. Folly landing is a good launch and has decent fishing around there as well. The sheeps, black drum and reds are starting to show up in numbers now. I like to fish mid to low to mid.

Sweet, thanks for the input! I was thinking of putting in at Bowens. Is there bait around for cast netting?
