Catch shares will be the ultimate end of fishing. Groups like PEW and EDF will buy up shares and it will creat a war between the small commercial operations and the big ones… The enviros capture more and more voting seats on councils and will get their way on more and more issues

Everyone did great in fighting this. Would have ended our sport as we know it.

Good food for thought Phin - The money leads to the big commercial fishing operations with many boats. I expect the big fish will be eating the little fish and controling the market - with the enviro manipulation of the council.
Please read the SAFMC press release about VMS. The last sentence spells it out. “Council will explore other methods of gathering electronic data” Somebody is pissed!
