2006 Yamaha VMax 225 motor with one year old battery.
So while fishing Saturday I noticed that while running wide open my voltage would drop significantly down and bounce into the 9’s and 10’s. When I would come off the throttle the voltage would go right back up to 12’s and 13’s. The motor ran fine all day up until the end then had issues with firing and even conked out on me at the ramp. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!

Bad alternator/charging system…your motor is drawing power from your battery to fire the spark plugs. Reason it started running like crap and died at the end was because it had completely drained your battery by then.

If its getting to 13V, its charging. You have a loose ground or corroded terminals.
i would check battery cables
the yamahas are famous for looking perfect on the outside, but try and bend them, and they are very stiff and “crunchy”
