Vote for Amendment 1, YOUR Right to Hunt & Fish!

On Tuesday, if you don’t do anything else, vote for Amendment One,
YOUR Right to Hunt and Fish.

Five days - that’s all the time we have left before next Tuesday, November 2. While the general election this year is full of choices about party and politics, there is one question we must all be united in saying YES to - Amendment 1, our Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish in South Carolina. It’s crucial for the future of our state’s out-of-door privileges and the prolonging of our rich outdoors heritage that everyone get to the polls on Tuesday and vote “YES” to Amendment 1.

Amendment 1 will officially write into the Constitution of South Carolina that its citizens have the right to hunt and fish. Careful language has been included so that the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the SC Legislature can assure proper laws and regulations are made and enforced to maintain the health of our game and fish populations.

The language of the Amendment question will appear as follows:

Must Article I of the Constitution of this State, relating to the declaration of rights under the state’s Constitution, be amended by adding Section 25 so as to provide that hunting and fishing are valuable parts of the state’s heritage, important for conservation, and a protected means of managing nonthreatened wildlife; to provide that the citizens of South Carolina shall have the right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife traditionally pursued, subject to laws and regulations promoting sound wildlife conservation and management as prescribed by the General Assembly; and to specify that this section must not be construed to abrogate any private property rights, existing state laws or regulations, or the state’s sovereignty over its natural resources?”
