Yep, tried them 3 or 4 times now, not one bite on them. Advice- save your money and use the real thing (live shrimp). Cant beat the real thing. No way, no how.
Well cant speak for vudu shrimp but I would agree on using live bait versus an artificial. Live bait always wins for me.
Works well under a float and free lined. I will continue to keep them in my tackle bag.
I do find that all plastic works better with pro cure.

yea im sure live bait is the best way to go but i do like the challenge of using artificial baits. thanks for the advice wando i was thinking probably best under popping cork.

I use them when the trash fish keep stealing the bait. And they do work under a popping cork.

I’ve always had luck with the VuDu shrimp. Last fall I started throwing em and was very happy with the trout. Down side is if you put pro cure it will change the color of the body. Another down side is the price. I was able to boat 5 trout and the shrimp without any damage in the fall but now that the blues are in the creeks they take the back off in one bite. A waste of $3.50 if blues are around. I’ll stick with the Zman until those pain in the a$$ blues are gone.
They work well under a popping cork, but I personally don’t like the weight, hook, and sink angle. I replace the stock jig head that comes with it with a lighter head and bigger, stronger hook. Without doing this modification, a DOA on most days will out fish them. They have sold well because of their eye appeal, so naturally other companies have followed suit.
They hold up really well, rig either way. Of course like stated above if there are Blues around they won’t, but in my experience they will last 15 times longer than a DOA. However, do NOT put them in the same box or bag with your other plastics. If they touch other plastics it melts them.

Try taking the hook out of the DOA and wrap a small amount of lead tape around the shank. Put a drop of super glue on the shank with tape then reinsert back into DOA body. I’ve caught 50+ trout several times on one bait. If the super glue breaks loose, re-glue. Otherwise, DOAs can be a pain because the body will slip down the shank after a few fish. Seems like Z-Man would come out with a suitable shrimp to fish under a popping cork with an exposed hook. It would fall slowly because Elaztech is buoyant, and they would last forever.

I’m more of a fan of the Savage Gear TPE Manic shrimp. http://www.savagegear-usa.com/product/view/lures/new-for-2014/tpe-manic-shrimp
I’ve found them to be more durable than the Vudu and, with the hook closer to the body of the lure itself, it is harder to snag on oysters, grass, or dock pilings. They come with a weighted hook. I like to add a half of a pinch weight to mine when the current is really ripping. They fish well under floats too.
I too enjoy the challenge of using artificials. It keeps me more engaged than using live bait.
Earn it everyday…
Agreed go after it with the Vudu or whatever else, only time I use live bait when I’m inshore is when I have a girl on the boat. That way there is a better chance of me looking like I know something, especially when I don’t.

Just say what you really mean, better chance you’ll catch something with live bait, therefore impressing the girl.
yea i have watched a couple of videos of the vudu shrimp on youtube i think im going to give them a shot using them on a double rig. Im going to have to look into the savage shrimp. Im going to be fishing in Beaufort next week (aug 2-9) i know i can get the vudu shrimp at Beaufort boat and dock supply. Is there any where in Beaufort i can pick up the savage shrimp?

Savage, Vudu, Mojo are basically all the same except I think they utilize different fabric woven within the body. Savage is at Dick’s; Mojo is an Academy Sports house brand. If you take bluefish out of the equation, they are all the same. They all catch fish, but they do not fall the same as DOA. Because of their faster fall rate, you miss more fish, but the newer aforementioned models are more cosmetically appealing. When it’s really time to throw this type of bait (Oct-Dec.), I will stick to DOA. When modified with a better hook and lead tape/super glue, it’s more effective.

Most lures are meant to catch a fisherman, not a fish. Seems these ones are meant to do just that, whereas the DOA was designed for performance (sink rate, profile, etc).

I can’t speak for the Vudu or Mojo, but the Savage shrimp’s hook setup is such that you can change it out. You can go to a heavier hook, lighter hook, or a weightless hook. All allowing you to achieve the desired sink rate. I love DOA products!! They still put fish in the boat for me, but don’t take my word for it and don’t eat a handful of the sour grapes being served. The only true way to find what works best for you is to actually try the product and make your own decisions. Yes, the Savage Gear TPE shrimp looks good on the peg but, speaking from experience, it
To each his own. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Get all the Savage Shrimp you want from Dick’s. At least there were plenty the last time I was in there.
