So I fell prey to two shrimp lures that are more realistic than the Holy Grail, DOA. I was curious as to how much difference raw appearance would make. I started out with the Vudu in a local shrimp looking color under a cork in 5’ of water with 4’ of leader. The shrimp fell beautifully and didn’t spiral like a crooked tail DOA. It looked more real than the DOA. The bait didn’t make it back to the boat without a hit on the first, second or third cast. Finally on the fourth cast I hooked a decent trout. It came unglued before the cooler. Next cast, hooked up and boated one about 15". Cast after cast I missed and missed fish. Finally I hoooked another only to have it leap out of the water and throw the hook. Yes, it was a lady. Missed many more and actually landed one. Moved to another spot to re evaluate without the missing ladies. Miss, Miss Miss. Another reports suggested that the tail gaurds the hook. I have to agree. The fish loved the lure, but my hook up percentage was awful. Switched to the savage and that joker looks real in the water. Great straight fall, kicking tail. It looks alive! This bait has a Texas rig style flutter hook however and I was treated to miss, miss miss again. I was impressed with the look and fish appeal of both lures, but the hookup percentage was lacking BIG TIME! So, next trip, I will be armed with all three offerings. I have had days where fish spit the DOA almost every time as well. Perhaps the Live Target shrimp will provide the best of both worlds, lifelike appearance, but without the kicking tail hook gaurd. Good Luck!

nice read
my main issue with the vudu was the small hooks, they are coming out with ones with a 3/0 hook now tho…Live target? Is that a dif brand as well? Bout to google it…
man those look good too! Guess theres another one to try out!
“you win some, you lose some…but nothing beats getting some!”
i agree with this! i have the same problems with the vudus! the tail seems to hurt the hook ups. jmo
I have had good success with the yo zuri’s. I use the char/black/green colored one. great lure if the water is clear.
