Waders

Got a queston on Neoprene waders? Since it is getting much cooler, I know I need to get some to stay warm and dry on the water. I have had some really cheap rubber waders in the past, dont have them anymore, and they kept me dry but would be really awkward in a kayak. Are the Neoprene Waders what more of you guys are using? And are the Neoprene Waders really water proof? Reason I ask that is because when I wore wet suits when I was younger, the water would soak right in to the neoprene, you stayed warm but you also stayed wet. And are there any places to get decent waders with out spending a ton of cash on them?

Last question about the waders. Are you getting them big enough to wear shoes or sizing them for your feet with socks on?

I wear neoprene waders and they keep you dry. Different style from a wetsuit / closed cell vs open cell neoprene sponge.

Hit up Cabelas or the outdoors warehouse in COlumbia… cant remember the name of it. I picked up a nice pair from cabelas last year for $99 marked down from $229

Check out Sport’s Authority. I bought these Hodgman breathable boot-less waders (probably last year’s model) for $25 plus $10 for a pair of wading boots. They had a bunch of stuff marked way down in the wader area.

I tried on a pair of neoprene but they just seemed way too warm. I like the idea of being able to layer under the light breathable waders depending how cold it gets. They fit pretty snug and seem safe with the wading belt cinched up tight.

I was in Walmart earlier today and saw they had some cheap ones that looked more like a light rain coat type of material with a boot. They were only like $40 I think. They were much lighter than the old heavy rubber ones I had a long time ago.

I have access to Cabelas stuff at dealer cost so I might have to look in the catalog and just see whats in there.

Thanks for the input guys.

I like the breathable thin waders. You can always layer underneath if it’s too cold.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

Academy Sports has the from $49+ and they look pretty good.

Breathable and layer, always wear a belt with either.

Are the breathable waders made of Neoprene or something else? Any links?

Thanks Guys!

The breathable ones I saw at Academy were some kind of material. They did have neoprene but I can see where breathable and layered would probably be better.
