Went out with Captain Jay From Aces Up and he put us on the fish fast. Fished 160-300 and 73 degrees. First line out we hit a nice bonita before we could get second line in the water. Within the next 30 minutes caught 2 Hoos and lost 4 more. Had a lot of strange things happen that caused us to miss most of them. About an hour later we had the planer rod scream taking full drag and proceed to pop 100 braid about 20 feet above the planer. Talk about a kick in then nuts losing $100 in gear.
Overall we only finished with 2 Wahoos but had a great time and hooked a family friend on fishing for life.
Good report but it sucks about loosing so many hoos and so much gear. How on earth did the braid break? Was it chafed and nobody noticed? I’m looking forward to getting out there on Saturday in the nice weather and getting a few hoos.
Check the guides on the rod? I let a friend borrow a reel of mine to use on his rod one day and one nicked guide on it completely destroyed the top 200 feet of my line in less than a day of fishing on his rod.
