Wahoo Boats question

A friend of mine’s neighbor is selling his 16 ft.'89 Wahoo dual console fiberglass boat with a 2006 Johnson 40hp motor. He’s kept the boat inside a garage its entire lifespan. Really great condition. Hes asking $2000. Any insight on these boats? It’ll be my first boat, and Im just two years out of college, so Im a little unsure about the deal im getting.

i think thats a killer deal. get him to let you have the boat/motor/trailer combo looked at and appraised by a good marine mechanic at your cost.
boat seems almost underpowered. i had a 14 mckee that was rated for 70 hp. take a test ride with 2 fat friends and see how it performs.

You might need a bigger motor, but I have a lot of good memories that came out of my best friend’s 16’ wahoo. Good boats.

if u get it let me knowa and ill buy the motor… i need a 40hp.

ft worry.

if the motor is a 2006, it is definately worth the price of the entire rig
if you dont buy it, please let me know, and I will buy it, if it has good compression

I agree with BadHabbit. I’ve been playing with a 14 mckee with a 50 merc. Runs like crazy with just me in it but add my neighbor and it slows down. I’m like 240 and he is like 260. Take him out and put my son in at 160 and it’s almost back where we started. I know it’s a different boat and motor but it only 2ft shorter with 10 extra hp. Don’t know but the wahoo is probably heaver. I would think at least a 60-70hp on that one.
