Headed out at 4:45 am Monday for some high speed wahoo action- seas were nice and the fish were hungry. We put 4 nice wahoo in the boat by 9:30am and finished up the morning at 10am with a large sailfish! We were running 3 high speed rigs; the sailfish hit the shorter rig and then was hooked up on the long rig. It’s the first time I’ve had a billfish hookup while high speed fishing. We got her to the boat, revived her, and sent her swimming on her way albeit with a sore lower lip I’m sure.
We pulled lines after that to go exploring. A buddy brought some dive gear and wanted to check out a ledge he had numbers for in 90’. It will definitely be a grouper honey hole for us in the fall.
All in all it was a great day!
