Wahoo

Just tried this last night.

1 tbsp. of soy sauce

1 tbsp. of sesame oil

1 tbsp. of fresh grated ginger

1 clove of pressed garlic

Mix well and pour over Wahoo

Marinate for 30 minutes

Grill about 4 minutes per side

Really enhances the flavor of the fish without overpowering it. Olive oil, salt and pepper is always great, sometimes you need a change up…

Not much better than wahoo  We use about the same recipe, but often just skip the cooking and eat it raw.

You nailed it. Nothing any better.

Sliced thin wahoo,
Lime juice
Hard to beat

big dog

Sounds fantastic! I do something similar, but cook it inside on a pan just to get a little sear. I treat it like a good quality tuna.

Not my picture, but this is close to how much I cook it – I actually do a little less (I just googled “seared wahoo”).

I did soy, sesame, garlic and lime but was out of fresh ginger… thanks again Fishcrazy for the fish! we sliced some raw and my wife told me never to heat up a piece of wahoo again- this coming from the woman who wouldn’t eat steak cooked medium a few years ago and now likes a rare center to her venison too

the glare off the plate sort of ruins the incredible view, but definitely some of the best fish I’ve ever had

we went a little lighter on the sesame oil, next time I would just use a splash and then roll it in a few sesame seeds too maybe. definitely want to add the ginger and maybe even sriracha to the next try

Dang, thanks for posting this. Looks great!

Mine too. A good friend of mine in Alaska sent use some fresh caught red salmon and halibut a couple of weeks ago. The slabs of salmon are huge! We took out the first piece and was discussing the best way to cook it. Mrs. Cracker said don’t ruin it by cooking it, let’s just eat it raw. So we did  Fantastic!

She will suck down some raw wahoo too!
