Funny lol. Planers

The high speed planer kit comes with a size 8. A popular size is the number 2 planer and it is about the most you want to pull on a nonplaner set up. Its common to use a 80w or senator 9/0 and up for planer rods and people also use the 50lrs. You can take some rope and tie about 30 or 40ft of it to your planer and cleat it off and use a break away clip to attach your line. This way you dont have to deal with a long leader and you can set your bait as far from the planer as you want. I would do a dummy run of what ever method i choose just so im comfortable with it when i have a fish on.

Seriously we don’t even mess with planers anymore, just use 32,48 or 64 ounce trolling lead with a 25 foot 300 lb.shock leader.

What Sells said.

We run 16-64oz (depending on speed and sea conditions, 14-17mph usually) on cable with heavy swivels on the ends. You want to paint those leads with zinc chromate primer and then with white paint. That blends the leads into your propwash and we get less hits on the leads this way.

None of those can be as sweet as Uranus!!!

Ok… that was funny.

I want see someone troll at 14 with downriggers. Entertainment will happen, or lost outriggers.

I used a cheap metal shower curtain clip & a #64 rubber band

When we pull meat we use an 8 off the cleat with paracord and a shower curtain ring and rubber band. Then we pull a number 4 inline it seems to work well for us.
