Wahooo!!!

Fished the Steeples area off the NC/SC coast Saturday. Wahoo and Tuna are here. Was fishing in the CCA Rodeo out of Ocean Isle Beach. Upon arriving at the Steeples, we immediately hookup with a wahoo, run off 100yards and spit the hook. 10 minutes later, a YFT tuna skys on the center flat and heads outa town. This time he spits immedietly and I feed it back hoping he’d take it again. WAM!! were hooked up thinkin it was the tuna but after 20 minutes of wrastlin we gaff a 45lb Wahoo. We needed to go back inshore for a King so we left the fish. The ride in saw tuna bustin everywhere.
Also a Buddy of mine hit the Hoos’ at the Winyah Scarf, ended up with 13 Hoos, one going over 80lbs. Nows the time to go if you can get offshore. Going back on Wedsnesday. Let you know how it went.

I hope your buddy had 7 people on the boat. Why would you leave tuna for a king?

Sounds like they were fishing a King Tourney.

I know it sounds stupid, but we were fishing a inshore offshore rodeo tournament put on by CCA. We had paid into both divisions, and with Saturday being the only decent day to fish we hade to try our hand at both. We did win the offshore division with the Hoo. But couldnt do anything witth the Kings. Believe me, I would have rather stayed and slayed the Hoos and tuners.
