When fishing for reds with mud minnows, does it pay off to leave your bait in one spot and just let it drift with wind/tide, or should I work a wider area by picking the bait up after 30 seconds or so and moving over a bit? I know you work a bit of a fan pattern when fishing for flounder but is this a good method for reds? I’ve tried both with no prevail, but is one bring more luck to anyone?
IMO use the trolling motor and artificials.
It all depends on if your searching for fish or fishing an area you know holds fish. If I know it holds fish I’ll let them soak if I’m hunting for fish I’m moving a lot and casting/trying different baits. I wouldn’t be using mud minnows this time of year. There are much better offerings for red fish this time of year.
Thanks guys.
