WAL-MART @ TANGER

All their Ande mono is on sale for $1.50 per 4-600 yard spool…they have 20#, 30#, #50, & 60#. They had a bunch other stuff for .50 but most is gone now…

I hate Ande, too much memory causing knots and birdnest. You better replace it twice a season, especially if on a spinner, then 3 times probably…

Thanks for tip Clams. At that price, you can afford to change it three times. I dont need any of it but I am sure some of us other po’ folks can use some.

Well, Smiley, looks lik you and I are on a collision course, just trying to keep someone from having a bad day on the water. Ande has given me too many bad days, at any price, it’s not worth the hassle to me. Just my .02 worth, everyone use your own internet info and lol…

I personnally have never had a problem with their line. Besides, what memory is there when you are trolling 6 knots or better and that massive bull hits?!?[:0]:smiley:

The problem comes putting out the lines, handfeeding the line when slow trolling or drifting, as in King Mackerel fishing, ok for high speed trolling, guess I should have been more specific, sorry. I’m strictly a KM man, on my boat, that means handfeeding the lines out. Also, may experience some tangle on that initial run, if line was reeled in without enough line pressure by a rookie on checking bait or pulling in to run to next spot. I feel sure you change that Ande quite often, also, right? If that’s the case, no problemo, I don’t fish often enough to keep the line from getting spool memory, part my fault, too. As I stated, change 2-3 times a season, if you don’t mind, Ande is good stuff…

Not at all mac. I think you have me all wrong. I know many people who like Ande. Ande did not get where they are by selling crap.
its just like anything else, everyone has their threshold for expenses. I do not buy Momoi unless I find it discounted considerably. You have to buy in bulk to get there or you can get it a little cheaper as part of a reel repair job.
I will do some other big name brands that are a little less pricey and I have fished Ande, I may even have some on one of my many reels. I think I am going to go to Wally world and check out some of that discounted Ande. But I am going to put it on EBAY and sell it or make leaders out of it.

Anyway, its all good man. Are you getting anywhere with that King club? Didnt I see a meeting coming up soon? I might come on down and see what its all about. Good luck with it anyway.

Thanks for asking, Smily. The club had our first meeting/seminar last Sat., around 20 showed up. It’s just a fun thing, so we’re going to stay small, {around 50} limit, and nothing serious. It’s basically jetty/shipping channel fishing, cheap and easy, {like some women}, beer, bait, braggin’, in that order.

mac, I was j/k anyway. I am not so rich(obviously), so I do use ande. It hasn’t failed me yet…:wink: I hope I can say that at the end of this season![:0]

I’m not rich either but I will always spend any amount necessary to get the line and hooks that I think will work the best for me. If this $1.50 stuff is your favorite then jump on it.

I have to agree with mac
Ande is probably the greatest line out there, IF, and I mean IF, you are trying to catch a line class trophy fish
Its one of the few lines that actually breaks at or under its labeled breaking strength.
I dont try and catch record fish
I want teh fish I hook to make it to the boat.
if ande line is rated for 20 pounds, its gonna break before 20, thats why so many trophy hunters use ande. when you apply for a line class trophy, the fish has to be weighed, and the line must be tested.
other lines, like stren or berkley, etc… will normally break at say 25-30 pounds.
also, I hate the memory issue as well
my personal favorite is still 20 pound powerpro for inshore, and momoi 30 for trolling, and 80 pound powerpro for bottom fishing

I normally use the 50# line for trolling…

I’ll check my supplies, I believe I have a spool of 50lb. Ande, never in sun, bought on sale, so like you guys, I was lookinf for a bargain, too. I’ll post a price, or PM if interested. Hey, Chris V., I still plan to come by and meet you when I’m in Charleston, everybody on this site owes you 1 HUGE thank you for your free info…

“The big one’s still swimming, let’s go.”

thanks mac, but they really dont owe me anything. I just like what I do.

Used Ande mono for the better part of 40 years and never had a problem. Tried Berkley awhile back and didnt like it. I like the Stren also. I’m just getting into the braids. I dont troll so I cant comment on how well it preforms fishing that way but for bottom fishing, casting and drifting I’ve never had a problem. Party and Charter boats in the North East would spool their reels at the beginning of the season and use the Ande day after day for the entire year. We used to buy it on huge spools. I think its well worth the money for what I use it for.

I hit a few Walmarts yesterday and came away with a couple of things. A few soft plastics for $3 a bag, a yozuri crystal minnow, and some power pro for $7 a spool. They had some Billy Bay shrimp for 3.96 in the clearance section, I thought that this was a little high for clearance, so checked the regular price, guess what $3.96. So don’t let that pink tag fool ya into biting. Quite a good bit of Ande at the North Chuck store.

60 pd is the heat for cirlce hook sailfishing…

Why are you stinking up this discussion forum with a Walmart post?

I have definitely struck a nerve with you…haven’t I? The post you mention is from March 09 and all I was trying to do was inform other fisherman about a good deal. Don’t recall any comments from you back then? Now, because i have taken “no regrets” to task about his inappropriate begging on this forum you are now doing your best to besmirch me. I look forward to seeing what else you can dredge up…
