I’m new to the Charleston area and am looking for opportunities for walk/wade fly-fishing in the area. Fresh or salt
I have seen folks walking/wading the area off the right side of the causeway going to Sullivan’s Island (Ben Sawyer Bridge).

That may be a cold one! Even though its shallow you might wear some kind of light flotation.

Don’t walk on the right facing Sullivan’s because that is pluff mud and you will get stuck. You can walk parts of the left side, but I wouldn’t waste my time walking that flat this time of the year.
Don’t be surprised if you don’t get many suggestions for spots. People guard these spots very closely because they are hard to find. Do a search on this site re: this subject and you will find some good threads. Good luck.
There are places around but you have to look for them. Look for the short grass. Tall grass = sink up to your ears, short grass usually means a sandier bottom. You can look for shell banks too. I do a good bit of wade fishing in the spring and summer when the water is warm and am pretty successful with a spinning setup. Usually in places that are in view of the general public. I mainly wade to stay cool and take a leak anytime that I want (even with people around).
