Walkin Flats

Is it ever too hot on a flat for redfish to tail? when ive been on my flood tide flats lately the water was burning hot and I walked 3 different flats multiple times and never saw a fish? whats going on I was doing fine in early June?

Last couple of walks I’ve experienced the same thing. Saw good fish one time, the other I saw squat.

I tend to see more fish in the cooler spots where the little creeks dump water onto the flats. Find where the fish are coming onto the flat and concentrate you efforts more there.

Redfish are opportunistic and will generally take the easiest path to where they want to go.

…because everything is a conspiracy!!!

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>I know it gets to hot for me to stand in.

Last time they were on the cooler part of the flat but… I’ve caught reds in some pretty hot water.

Last couple of times it’s felt HOT, I walk until I find cooler water. Or until I get much closer to the feeder creeks. If it’s uncomfortable for you to stand in, then it’s probably not where the fish are.

thanks guys i agree about the creeks!

Note:

take the time to revive the fish when catching them in shallow hot water. if possible move em to where the tide is still coming in from the creek feeding the flat. That water is tyically cooler.

good luck jr.

Fish are too valuable to be caught only once.

there’s walkin shots coming this week.
