Changed it up and put in at Remley’s to fish the Wando where my buddy always does well. On the water at 0800 and headed up with high hopes and ideal conditions. Covered more ground than I have ever covered in a day and threw that tackle box at them! Boated the smallest trout I have ever laid eyes on around 1000 (mm under cork). Headed up further passed 41 bridge which landed a bluefish on zman paddlerz smoke shad. Quick visit with the ladies from DNR stopped at the BP next to the 41 bridge for a few beers to ease the pain of the super slow day and headed back towards the 526 bridge to fish the last 2 hours before dead low. Fed up with the day I said those words " F it, 1 more cast and we’re out of here!!" Don’t know why it is but the next cast, bam, cork under water! Next 3 cast, 3 more trout! All fairly small and no need for pics. I started to see some mullet and thought I might mess around and catch a red,few minutes later, WHAM!!! Cork goes under and it becomes obvious this one is a red and pretty decent!! 25" and put up a nice fight!! I was in 2’ of water with a dead trolling motor so decided that was a good way to end a slow frustrating day!
Merry Christmas to you all!
