Wando 8/10

Weather report looked perfect for a trip out to the jetties. Left from Shem Creek and quickly realized the weather report was wrong! Maybe it was just bad timing, but we quickly found ourselves in some big swells heading towards Fort Sumter. We decided to turn around and head up the Wando. Fished the grass line with multiple plastics for a few hours with nothing to show for on the ebbing tide. About an hour before low tide, we threw some mullet and shrimp on a carolina rig. Sting ray were active. Caught 1 ray and 1 small flounder. Reds and trout were nowhere to be found.

All well. Cold beer and sunshine was worth it.

Thanks for the report,do you think there was too much fresh water?I can usually tell by looking back at the propwash when I’m on plane.

No idea, I didn’t even know you could do that. What are you looking for?

It will be brownish when there is a lot of fresh water and grayer when it’s salty.Start watching it and you’ll see the difference.

Yeah the water looks like rootbeer… fished upper wando with live bait Friday afternoon and sat morning with no luck…

Appreciate the tip! It was definitely brown.

Water was definitely very dark brown, was not aware that was from fresh water ratio great tip. Went on upper Wando on Sunday, found some trout in the docks on a creek around 7a, landed one ~ 15" another escaped. Went out in to main river and ran down toward Juba island had no luck, came back up and fished some flats about 2 hours from low. Hooked up a red and got broke off, was not able to get another on. Found a decent amount of fish (at least for me) it looked like there were about 15 or so in this little spot
