It’s been a while since I’ve posted been fishing just not reporting been kinda busy. Couldn’t sleep this morning so figured I would post a few pics from the last couple days.
Headed out early tuesday morning just before low tide. I rounded up a bunch of mullet and shrimp for bait and off I went. The bite was good I caught fish all day long ended up staying out until dark. Almost everything was caught on a cork with shrimp or mullet a few were on artificals.
Went back out thursday afternoon just after low tide and fished until dark. Had another good day caught my largest black drum as of yet it measured out at just over 38". would like to know what you guys would estimate the weight at? I ended up catching several large black drum and quite a few overslot reds. Same bait as before live shrimp and mullet.
That’s what I’m talking about!! Those black drum are so strong I love catching those! Mine are caught about like flounder, by accident!
Good stuff as usual!

If you want to filter out most of the smaller drum, use a half of blue crab for bait. The bite will be more like a sheephead type bite, but they will tend to be larger fish. You will also keep catching the larger Reds with the crab too.
We have caught many drum over 40lbs with the largest at 72lbs. All in the same river
And, DD, awesome, awesome job. Great pics of great fish! Vegas Dave

I think that I look at post on CharlestonFishingDotCom mainly to see the health of the coastal waters. Gonna sleep good tonight. Great fish all around, DD!

Take the crab and take the back off. Break it in half and use a 7-O hook. I usually enter from the bottom near the back fin and them turn the hook and come back through with just the point sticking out.
You have to either hold the rod or watch it closely as they will not usually just take the crab. They will come up and inhale it and sit there while they crush it. You will see a little tap, tap. Pick the rod up and slowly lift, if it feels heavy, set the hook. It is a little like sheephead fishing.
DDS2 I could be mistaken but I saw you guys setting up Thursday around 5:30 pm. Saw about 3 boats in the area after finishing a job in Dunes West on the way home. Only want to know the bait of choice. What a nice catch.
