Sorry for the late report but we had a pretty awesome day on the Wando last week.
A couple of buddies and I hit the Wando last Thursday. The weatherman was saying the rain would be “hit and miss but not too heavy” but the wind was supposed to howl. Well, we get to the ramp just before sunrise and the weatherman seemed to be on the ball. A little spitting rain but the wind was getting it out of the Northeast. We ventured forth towards our first spot. When we get there, the bait was thick and being busted all around us. Big bait, little bait; it didn’t matter. It was all getting blown out of the water. I had a couple of blow ups on topwater and a few came unbuttoned. Each of my buddies were getting hammered too. We managed to boat a few fish but nothing compared to bites we were getting (for the record, we threw artificials all day). Oh, I forgot to mention that after an hour, the wind laid down quite a bit and the rain moved in and it stayed that way for the rest of the day. It rained pretty hard at times but at the very least it was steady. Shocker…he weatherman missed it. We decided to hit a different spot and I’m glad we did. The bait was still thick as fleas and on my buddy’s first cast, he had a 20" trout crash his topwater bait. Real healthy fish, very fat. We sat there for an hour or so and caught several trout (keepers and shorts). After a while, the bite slowed so we tried one more spot. Again, bait was thick but this time, the bite was slow. After about 30-45 minutes, we were contemplating moving. Then I caught a trout. Then another…and another…and another. Before we knew it, it was more of an oddity to get the bait back to the boat without a bite. I even caught a nice Bluefish (about 20"). It was a straight up whackfest. We actually started throwing baits we would’ve never thrown just to see if the fish would bite them…and they did. We caught keepers and shorts but one thing was for sure, the trout were aggressive as all get out. Just after noon, we saw our first glimpse of lightening. I’
great report archer! Looking back to my best days - almost all of them have been in steady rain. I love fishing the rain - but, i don’t do lightning either!
Don’t sweat Juice either. His wife probably had to proof read his post for him.
Luckily for Juice, I fish better than I speak and/or write. Someone has to put fish in the boat when we fish together. He’s one jam up net man though. Lol!!

Juice, I’ll give you my boss’ phone number. You call him up and plead my case. Use the insanity route, that always works and is valid. You are still dangerous, but you can be my net man anytime.
I would like to hit the water again very soon but I’m wondering how all of this freshwater you guys are getting hit with, and about to get hit with, is going to impact the bite.
DFreedom, I speak for all fat kids, trust me.
