Decided to head out last night for a quick trip when the forecast earlier in the week said 5knts from the west. Well it was more like 10-15 from the SW but I made it out anyway after a temporary dock closure due to a wedding. I hit the water at 5 with the low having been around 2:30, water temp was 73ish and clarity was non-existent! I decided to fish Rathall Creek as it tends to be less affected by wind and is generally good in the spring. Found some bait and then shredded my cast net on an oyster bed I couldn’t find the fish on the way up the creek, meaning they were most likely up on the flats but I tried one of my better holes anyway with no luck. Poled around the flat, saw several fish, but nobody was biting. Decided to try the same hole on the way out of the creek and managed a quick inshore slam, flounder (17"), red (28"), and trout (18"). After throwing artificials all evening, these three fish were all caught dragging a chunk of cut mullet on a jig head down the upstream side of a submerged oyster mound. The fish were caught around 6:30 with the high coming in at 8:30. Plenty of bait in the creek, including some shrimp. Flounder and trout both spit up striped killifish when I landed them.
Congrats on the quick slam !
We fished the outgoing on the Wando from about 10:30-3 yesterday and only managed 1 slot red on a mud minnow. The water looked more like a blackwater swamp. I hit 6 spots and tried 3 new ones. Still a beautiful day.

Good work! Haven’t had a slam in months ugh
“Fish On”
striped killfish, interesting. thanks for the post
Strong work. We fished that same area yesterday morning, fishing the tide down for 4 hours. We trolled along grass banks and oyster rakes throwing mudd minnows under popping corks and occasionally a mudd minnow on a carolina rig. I was really hoping for a lot of success since the weather was so great, but we only managed 1, 18" trout. Better to be on the water than at work though. Oh and the water was super muddy as well. We saw alot of people out fishing. I wonder if they did any better?
Anyone see me out there yesterday? I was in the older Bass Tracker. We didn’t catch anything either. Had a few Crabs carry our corks away…figuring they were crabs, hoping they were fish we still set the hook but nothing. I did manage to hook a 25-30lb Gar. pretty good fight
