Went out this afternoon with the wife to a flat that I use to fish about 10 years ago. We pulled up into the flat and immedietly saw a huge tail. I got out the wife handed me the long rod and tha stalk began. I actually cast better in the water than in the boat. I threw a clouser at him and couldn’t quit reach him so I went closer then he dissappeared. A couple of minutes later he was about 20’ in front of me. He was huge and was thrashing hard. He eventually came to about 7’ away/ I could have jumped on him. So I started to flip the fly to him and that is when I choked from all of the adrenaline. The butt section hit the tip of the rod and BOOM off he took. SHOOT!!! is a nice way to put it.
Stalked some other flats but nothing.
Is the Clouser the right fly to use in the flats?
