Went out this evening with my mom and aunt. Checked about 5 flats. Saw 2 tails, both white, as in white tail deer. It was a doe and what looked like a newborn grazing right on the rivers edge. Didn’t even see bambi until mom took off running for the bush. First time seeing that. Made my mom and aunts day. They are still talking about it.
Wind seemed to pick up around 430-5. Made it tough to see. Nevertheless, a good day on the water.
Ive had little luck on the flats. I ve seen fish but none interested in biting. 4 flats and one tailer (plenty spooked). It rained heavily and the ground is still soaked. O2/salinity might be low due to fresh water. All the reds Ive caught lately are deep.
For what its worth I have seen the fish more active on the edge of the grass lately on the floods when they could easily be on the flat. Try running the grass edge with the trolling motor and watch for the fish just laying on top of the grass or cruising down the edge. Be on point with a weightless jerkshad to make short pitch style casts and you should see more action. Hope this helps

Saw atleast 10 fish with half of them actively tailing. The rest were cruisers that we spooked. Had a shot at a couple with the fly, and started where I left off last season spooking them with the spinning rod. My bait is attracted to their head for some reason:). Beautiful night on the water though fishing with a new charlestonfishing.com friend.
Don’t have a knack for makin motors crank,
But I’m pretty good at drinkin beer
The best way to a fisherman’s heart is through his fly.
