Finally got on the water after a long break from fishing. I covered a lot of water and probably saw over a 100 fish. Unfortunately, I only caught two! I threw every artificial I had, but they only wanted cut bait. Wondering if anybody can offer some advice? I had a hard time seeing the fish because they werent pushing water like they usually do. I had no idea they were there until it was too late. When you jump a big school, and spook them, how do you fish? Do you anchor and wait? Do you keep going and try them again later? Is there anything else I should do? I just feel like I should have caught a lot more fish today. Dont get me wrong, I am happy with the two I caught, just want to maximize my opportunities in the future when I find those big schools.
Here is a pic of one of them. Nothing exciting…

try tossing some gulp jerkshads… its hard for them to deny.
I had the same problem today with the fish not really pushing a whole lot of water just kind of sitting there. Makes it difficult but if you do spook the school, back off of them and wait until everything has calmed back down and then cast in the area where they were previoulsy sitting. 90 percent of the time they will move to that exact spot because it is probably warmer or something. There is a reason why they were there.
Give it a shot and let us know how u do.
Hope this helps.
Good advice, Stalk. Heck SW, we could have saved gas and shared a boat! Our day mirrored yours - except you actually hooked a couple! I found water 3 degrees warmer than I saw all day but never got more than an occasional mud poof. Nice day, though!
Thanks stalk! Will keep that in mind next time. Vin, does your skiff have a blue hull? If so, I think i saw you heading down the wando towards the 526 bridge.
