Wando River Question

I live in Goose Creek and I am going to go fishing on the Wando, i would put in at Remley’s Point and head up the Wando, my question is should i go further east of 41 or stay between 526 and 41 . i have a 16 ft side console jon boat with 40 yamaha, and this time of year what should i be targeting , i know the question is broad but any suggestions would be appreciated, i have mostly fished the cooper so the wando would only be an occasional trip and i would like to make the most of it, its a pretty good pull from goose creek,:flushed:

thanks again

There are fish all the way up the wando from remleys to well past the 41
Bridge. Same as the cooper. Target the usual type
Spots as you have success on the cooper and you will do

On a serious note, I agree with Optiker, there are good spots all up and down the Wando. Flats for chasing reds, plenty of structure for trout, and a good mixture of both. I like that river and have been fishing it since I was a kid. I just don’t get to do it as often as I’d like, since I’m coming from Orangeburg.

Try pulling from Columbia. I’d kill to have a 30 min pull. Its all relative.

I guess i did sound a little whiney about the distance, i have never fished it and i have heard good stories i am gonna give it a try and see what happens, Optiker, i have always appreciated your response thanks and if i hit a honey hole i will let you know,(know that i found one not necessarily where it is LOL ) and thanks to the others for keeping it real, i guess i live pretty close ,

No man, I wasn’t chiding you at all. Really just jealous of anyone that lives that close. I might actually get on the water if I lived that close. Happy fishing.

I might have second thought’s about the river, north of the 41 bridge.
One of the DNR guy’s told me there was no bait up there because of all the freshwater.

I heard that too. Think all of the big fish left too. Nothing to catch up there, move along!

Freshwater has pushed the bait couple miles south of Big Paradise. All the fish are down by 41 Bridge, dont waste your time on upper Wando till we get some fresh saltwater up here.

All fishermen are liars except for you and me, and to tell you the truth brother, I’m not sure about you!

Thanks for all the freshwater report LOL i’ll give it a shot

You really need to get with it and leave your boat in a storage lot like 50$ per month, towing gas alone will pay for storage.

I have had my boat down there in a yard for the last 4 years for about 8 months out of the year. I brought it home earlier this year to do some work on it ,and gave up my spot knowing it would be a few months before I really had any time to get on the water. The boatyard I normally use is full so it sits here in Columbia while I wait (hope) for a space to open. So yeah, no towing but I stil lhave to drive 4 hours round trip. I wasn’t whining, I just dream of the day I can have a 30 minutes or less drive.

Gotcha, towing round trip 250 miles really does suck .
