Headed out around lunchtime on a beautiful spring day to do a little fishing on the Wando. I stopped by Haddrell’s Point Tackle in Mt. Pleasant to pick up some fiddler crabs and mosquito hooks https://amzn.to/2KJsz1e to target sheepshead around old pilings and bridges. The tide was coming in so I started out around the grass edges looking for trout and redfish. I didn’t see any fish so I switched over and started targeting sheepshead with fiddler crabs. On the first drop I hooked up to a big sheepshead. I applied a little too much drag and broke her off at the boat. I switched over to the Shimano Stella https://amzn.to/2I6oGSm with its buttery smooth drag and proceeded to weed through missed bites and undersized sheepshead. After putting in around 2.5 hours I finally hooked up to the big one again. This time I let her run several times and I was able to land her into the boat. I threw her into my new Columbia fish bag https://amzn.to/2rtotkV that takes up little space or weight and took her home to my wife to fry up with some hush puppies and cole slaw. I continued to pick at them for a while and when the tide started dropping out again and headed over to the flats to run the dog for some trout. I ended up catching three nice trout over 17 inches on a Heddon Super Spook Jr. Redhead https://amzn.to/2HHeyDx.
