Wando Striper

Wind and rain be darned…I had to fish. Went out with DDOlson and Lost@Sea yesterday out of Paradise Landing. Caught this untagged striper while fishing for reds - it was a pleasant surprise!

I either use Tumblr or Photobucket…search the forum to find out the exact procedures for copying and pasting the URLs and the img codes…

Nice Stripper…Congrats

I still can not believe you pulled that out of a school of reds and I have never caught them in that stretch of the river before. I have heard stories about the winter striper fishing that people used to do in the river and hopefully catches like this will become more of the norm. Congrats.

No matter when or where you caught it... its a nice fish. Got to love the striper.

They do sometimes hang out together with reds. I once caught a tagged striper out of a school of reds in the wando. Interestingly it was about the same size as the reds. The dnr said it was further down river than most other recaptures. Below 41 bridge

Nice striper elgeebee. I recently ran into a marine biologist who sometimes works with the DNR. He’d been involved in a study on the local stripers and they were finding that most of the stripers they’ve released aren’t making it past the first year or two. They didn’t know why yet but they’re working on it. If they can figure it out, the striper population might make a big rebound. I’ve never caught one.
