Went out before low tide this morning on the Wando. I was anchored in the deep part of the creek mouth and casting towards a flat. Caught a ton of trout and Lady Fish. All of a sudden there was a large amount of dolphin activity. Then I noticed each trout I was throwing back in they were eating. Then one dolphin began to pop up next to the boat each time I pulled in a trout. He/she was simply waiting for me to throw them back in.
That’s awesome!
They really are incredible creatures.

I worked on a crab boat a few summers ago and they would act like that a lot when we were pulling pots. Some would eat right out of your hand. Very awesome!

Maybe, just once, someone will call me “sir” without adding, “you’re making a scene.”

Had the same thing happen to me in Florida earlier this year while snook fishing dock lights
Use to have them do that while we were shrimping and throwing back large menhaden, could feed them out of your hands. Even had one kiss our dog on his noise when he leaned over the side!

No sir… Dolphin. If we did have Porpoise, you’d never get one to eat out of your hand, breach close to you, or most likely get a good glimpse of one.
LadyFriend, it is about the best part of going to the saltwater for my wife when she gets to see Dolphin. I enjoy watching them, but hate it when they come close to me when fishing or shrimping… Greedy buggers.
I’ll help a friend from time to time on a shrimp boat and they can really put on a show at times. Helps with the boredom while dragging a net.

I fish the upper wando, big paradise island area, all the time. I see this a lot in the area, but almost never in other areas of Charleston I fish. I once had a dolphin almost take a redfish out of my hand. It scared the heck out of me. They usually hang back about 10-15 feet from the boat and swoop in once you throw one back. Many times I move spots because they hang around so much.
