Wando Sunday

Best day on the fly to date - headed to the Wando to try the reds in the grass - first stop found fish 50 feet from where I parked the boat - first cast, first fish…went way into the backing - released and looked up to find two more. Second cast, second fish…not quite as big (tagged). Fifty yards away more fish - caught 3 more (all in slot and two more tags). Left to head up to Paradise Island and look/scout - no luck, heading back down decided to stop on a popular flat and finished the day with the last two. Fished alone, no photos - The fish were defintely hungry and eating today.

Fish time - 2pm to 6pm
Total fish - 7 (3 tagged) - all reds
Bait/Color - Copperhead
Presentation - Very little/no strip
Area - all above 526

Wow sounds like a wonerful day heck I wouldnt be compalining about 7 fish. What kinda tide were you looking at. Tried a flat today and there was absoulotey no water on it so im pretty suprised that you found that many on a 5.2 tide and it sounds like you had time to spare! What a fabulous way to end a weekend. Great report thanks for sharing.

No Complaints…best day I have had. Tide I was looking at showed:
Tides for Nowell Creek starting with August 19, 2007.
Day High Tide Height Sunrise Moon Time % Moon
/Low Time Feet Sunset Visible

Su 19 High 1:13 AM 5.4 6:45 AM Rise 12:57 PM 30
19 Low 6:59 AM 1.0 8:01 PM Set 11:21 PM
19 High 2:00 PM 5.9
19 Low 7:49 PM 1.6

Tide was not way up on the flat but the fish were hanging at the edges where the grass moved off the shoreline - saw 5 fish in one group.

Good job on the channel bass!

Congrats. It’s time for me to get a new tide chart.

All’s good - been following the “expansion” of Jerms fishing knowledge…from inshore to the vast blue water, to night stickin and the cold streams of middle America and compare them to Willy’s non-fishin ass due to work (man you got to stop and smell the bait!)…but at least he now has the real deal to get to those ultimate skinny spots. My new job has some drawbacks (can’t drink beer at lunch anymore) and is keeping me busy/traveling but the benefits outweigh the cons. We will catch up sooner or later and slay whatever, whenever. You got my number.
