I have I think what is called the Arrowhead mold, 1/8 up to 1/2 or so in size. They look like the cheap ones you buy in Walmart. You have to get the hooks for the different sizes. I have a few hooks left. I had trouble getting a good paint job on them, but hey worked just fine.
The best lead I have found has come from old plumbing! Find a old house demo crew and ask them to save you the lead! Will possably trade it for a case of Bud Lite.
Figured I would update this post. I melted down some wheel weights and some other much cleaner lead that took much less skimming and have 122 lbs of clean ingots. Hope to get with it next week on weight and Jig pouring.
JWS…I have on occasion traded in a tank like the one in your pic and would like to share something with you. Those folks that take those trade ins will not fill the tanks all the way to avoid raising their prices or other reasons:stuck_out_tongue: and are already more expensive.
Also, remove the plastic wrap from it because the condensation remains between the plastic and the tank causing it to rust.
I learned that from the guy that filled mine…First thing he did was cut that off…makes total sense and I already had some rust.
Just remember - Lead has been determined to cause cancer in California. I didn’t know they ate it out there. I don’t suppose it causes cancer anywhere else!
Just one more caution… please be sure to have adequate ventilation when heating lead. An exhaust fan is a great idea. I used to work in a plant that cast lead and adequate ventilation was a must.
