Going to take the air out and fill tires with water.
Never thought of raising the bunk idea… good one.
The outer bunks look bowed in the picture… think it is just an odd angle. They look straght in person.
You are right… don’t need a tri-axle. would like to find a dual axle to trade… and tried a couple months ago. all i got was $ offers. never could work out the logistics of selling trailer and buying different on with boat in a slip for the swap.
A boat out of water is like a fish out of water… it’s not natural and you need to support it properly. Most/all boats have structural stringers and they should line up with the trailer bunks. Soooooo… you can remove any bunks you want BUT, the remaining bunks should align with the structural boat stringers.
I’m wondering if you could pull the center wheels off and see if the trailer still floats. You would still have four wheels under the boat and I’m just guessing that the center axel and hubs would not drag on the ground. This could quickly answer the question if a 4 wheel trailer would not float at the boat ramp. This second point is just a pure guess.
that trailer is all wrong. get rid of the outer bunks and the hull was never intended for a triple axle trailer.
Removing the outer bunks will allow the hull to float in shallower water. B/C you will not be going so deep there will be less opportunity for the trailer to float and stray.
Well i put on Craigslist to trade for dual axle… had a old man call that talked for an hour about his while life.
Had about 20 calls of people that want to just buy it out right for $2k… Now i am searching for a dual axle.
Any of you seen any?
Redeye is dead on, get rid of the outer bunks completely and it wont have to be backed down as deep, hence floating eliminated.
Rick
It also appears that the center bunks will need to be raised to the higher bolt holes to make sure the hull clears the fender wells. You do not need as much clearence as you currently have. B/C the bunks will not be resting on the cross bars…they will need two bolts through each set of L brackets.
You may find it easier to replace all of the L brackets, u bolts, and other hardware why you are at it. The hardware can be found on the internet and should be approx. $100 I just replaced all of mine.
If you cant find someone to trade adjust it. To buy one will cost you good money
