Want to fish the Jetties

I want to paddle out there but want to launch as close to them as possible. Can anyone tell me where the best place woud be? Also I like to fish the IOP area near the Boathouse restauarant area but don’t know where to put in.

I would think you could launch right at Sullivans Island near the fort. There is beach accesss there along with parking but not sure of any regulations/time limits on parking

I would think the best spot for IOP would be breaches inlet.

wouldn’t be a bad spot to get to the jetties either

Let me know when you are planning on going so that I can come by and wake your tiny little boat at the jetties.

I still say that we should drag it offshore one day and let you hook up with some dolphin out there on it. That would be OOC.

23,
Where have you been? I have been calling. You don’t love me anymore?

I have paddled out there from north folly around the lighthouse. It’s a pretty hardcore trip.

I put in at the Breach inlet marina all the time. There is usually a locked gate on the boat ramp, but all I do is just drag my kayak under the gate. There is a lot of boat traffic in that area so you have to be careful of all the boat wakes because not many boats slow down for a kayak.

I’m not sure exactly were the marina is but once you cross the bridge from IOP there is public parking on the left and only a 50 yrd walk across the sand to the water.

Ft. Moultrie on sullivans has got to be the easiest place to go from. Let me know when you plan on going, I’ll go with you. I have been thinking about that for some time. Late this summer during the tarpon run??? I will jump a tarpon this season!!!

D, some buddies and I were jumping tarpon right off the beach in palm coast, fl last summer. I’m talkin REAL big boys, the most out of control fishing experience I ever had. We didn’t even come close to landing em, but just seein them blow up like that, and being able to get so close to the big groups was just unreal. We definitely have a tarpon fishery here in summer, but only a few people know whats up…I definitely do not around here, but I’d be town for a kayak tarpon excursion this summer for sure…

my coal for the summer is to get a tarpon on the fly from my yak. I think that the jetties have a lot of potiential for a lot of species. Mike and I have also been talking about it.

Thats why they call it fishing, not catching

DolphinD,
I am probably going out Monday if you want to show me how it is done or anyone who would like to meet up.
