I’m lookin for one of the big tote tanks to keep bait in at the house. Anyone know where I can get one. I’ve all ready looked on Craigslist.

I got mine off of Craigslist. There’s a place behind 620 Sunset blvd before the chicken plant, if you look on Google maps you can see the totes. I believe he sells them for $60. You will need to really clean them out. He also has 50 gallon drums for $5. I used one for my filtration system. I cant find his number but you should be able to show up and they will sell you one. I’ll keep looking for the number.
Best thing I have found to clean them is a water based degreaser called simple green.i got mine from Dillion supply. It really does a good job. Buy the gallon jug. You will need it. It’s much easier to clean then once you have cut your hole in the top.
Make sure you put some sort of top/lid on it. Birds and leaves seem to find their way in there. .lol…
Here are some pix of mine. I do not store bait in it. Mine is for transporting it.
I used just a standard spray bar system in it since I planned on doing water changes usually once to twice a day depending on what the water looks like. My top was made out of commercial cutting board material (thanks to corey).
After I had some very bad issues (lost a couple 100$ worth of bait) with my mother’s well not pumping a consistent ph level (below 6) my partner and I decided to just cage them up. It’s works great other than the blue heron that has given us some trouble causing us to put a lid on the cage as well. This is the cage. 5’?5’?3’H. I like this method very much. No worries about feeding trout and the gizzards even get to eat and there is no water changes or pumps/areation to worry about failing.

I believe it’s called USA Supply. They supply restaurants with different liquid items. I can’t find a website or a phone number but I would just stop by during normal business hours. It is the smaller building behind the one that’s closest to the road. Once you turn in the parking lot go to the right and go behind the front building. You will see all the totes and drums once you turn the corner.

I have had a cage similar to yours in my pond but the large mouth keep knocking holes in it and the bait gets out Gave up on this Last week I found a 48" concrete pipe 48" long. Need to go get it and turn it up and install a concrete bottom and use a pump to move pond water into the thing and let gravity move it out. Any thaughts about painting the interior with epoxy or urethane?
I would leave it natural. Algea Will start to grow and gives gizzards something to filter. This is what I have seen at certain baits shops that keep gizzards in stock yr round.

Chip, are you using the pen in the lake or do you have it in a pond? I’ve seem people use them for crappie to keep alive until they have a nice mess to clean. The dock I have access to at the lake is shallow so I wonder if I could keep herring alive in the warmer months?
