Cant say for sure that he is a bobcat. he is much bigger than any bobcat I have ever seen. His paw tracks are the size of a lab and he is much stockier than the usual bobcat. I wish the picture was in color so we could say for sure.
If you can not say for sure that the picture is of a bobcat you should brush up on your animal identification skills. The short tail and spots are a dead give away.

Your eyes must be better tahn mine because I can not positively identify these so called spots that you claim to see. As for the short tail. I agree. With the tracks at around 4’’ that is the biggest track of any bobcat that I have ever seen. The average track of a bobcat is 1.8" and they vary from 1" to 3". If he is a bobcat- consider him a trophy!
Well upsmansc I would have to agree as that is a bobcat with out a doupt in my mind. He is one heck of a big one and if you can get the chance to take him this year he will make one heck of a mount. Besides he needs to hit the ground cause can you imagine the number of turkeys he has eaten??
What are you all using as a reference to judge the size of this cat. Noone knows how close it is to the camera! It just looks like an average bobcat to me. How are you measuring these tracks? Are you talking about it being 4" across?
This guy has pics of a BIG BLACK CAT . I’m trying to get in contact with him and get a pic and hear the story. ( 125 to 175 lbs )

Not to mention how many small deer he may have killed. He is deffinately on the hit list. I think he would make an awesome full body mount.
http://s695.photobucket.com/albums/vv314/pantherasanteedelta/ think this might add to the topic a little. A six year veteran ocean lifeguard filmed this animal in 2002 along the N santee river. He contacted dnr, and it took them 3 years to give him an audience. When they viewed this film, they said it was 150lbs, not a bear, but if they were asked by the media, they would have to say that this was some form of wild hog. Most recently jay butfiloski of dnr said it was only a shadow. The original film will be aired in jan of next year on scetv. Till then, the pirated cell phone video can be found on youtube by searching black panther sighting. how do I know this story is true? Cause iam that lifeguard. Please email your sightings time, date, and location to us at pantherasanteedelta@yahoo.com
32 seconds on the original video, the frames do depict movement in the tail, and last but not least, I didnt see it till I watched the film the next day.Kinda glad I didnt get out the truck and approach in that I only weighed 145lbs at the time.
