I have a 2006 optimax 175 (2.5L) that has water pouring from the top exhaust port when idling in the yard (hooked up to the muffs). Is this normal? The water pump was replaced about 95hrs ago and appears to be good (strong stream from motor). I checked the thermostats and they worked fine (dropped them in boiling water). My only other concern would be the poppet valve.
on the back of that motor there are 2 holes
1 is an exhaust the other should have a plug in it
that is there pee hole is
what Chris said, sounds like the flush port plug fell out
Nah…the flush plug is still in. I also know where the pee hole is. I was worried that the head gasket may have gone bad…or the poppet valve was sticking.
if poppit valve is sticking, engine will overheat at low rpms
headgasket would have low compression and possibly water in cylinder
how is teh motor running?
Ran it Saturday and ran well (good psi and temp) until…after running for a while I slowed down for some folks fishing and the engine started running rough like it was missing. Shortly after the engine light on my smartcraft gauge came on. I let it sit for a while and cranked her up…idled fine, but the engine alarm came back on. Shut it down and got a tow back in. We’ll see what it turns out to be.
