I have a 1965 18hp evinrude that I pulled out the shop the other day and got runnin. After I shut it off noticed the foot oil was coming out of one of the holes in front of where the water pump is. Dropped the lower unit off, pulled the water pump out and can’t figure out where the seal is. Pulled the shaft out of the foot but did not see any seals. Anyone know about this ancient machine?
I had a similar issue with a 1974 9.9. Does that motor have a brass bushing where the shift rod passes into the lower unit? I made a puller and replaced bushing (5$) and oring (2$).
