The last several years, I have changed my winterization storage practiice to store boat with stabilized fuel as close to empty as possible. Have not had any issues related to ethanol (knock on wood!). I empty my racor filter every outing and typically drain 3-4 ounces of water for every 20 gallons of fuel burned. Are there any recommended additives I can put in tank to absorb the water? Most ingredients seem to be alcohol, the same ingredient I am trying to avoid with ethanol. Also, what does water do to the engine, are there any symptoms I should be looking out for, and is 3-4 oz’s per 20 gallons of fuel alot of H2O? Advice appreciated.
A lot of it depends on the outboard you are running, older carbed 2 strokes don’t seem to mind a little water as bad as the newer 4 strokes do.
