FYI to everyone filled up at lil cricket by Charleston angler on st Andrews Blvd which I have done in the past with 100 gallons with a current amount of 50 which I had been running on for the past 3 weekends. Left wappoo at 4 and got in front of the battery and motors started missing and shuttering pulled the cup off port and discovered that I had some new sort of fuel someone was wanting to try. Proceeded to the jiyc and pulled 3 to 4 gallons of that new type of fuel ( water) for an hr, buttoned everything up and ran for 15 minutes checked one separator again and was half full of water so ended up calling it and then proceeded to the variety store for breakfast, then a short booze cruise.
Do you have fresh water tank on board? If so, the fill for the fresh water tank wouldn’t be located right next to the fuel fill would it? Seen happen to people of all sorts - 50+ years experience to first time boat owners. Just throwing it out there…
No it’s not, preciate the advice though.
Ethanol in gasoline = trouble.
Strong suggestion: Use only UNLEADED GAS in any engine that MUST work properly, regardless of what the manufacturer suggests.
Can you even buy leaded gas nowadays. I think you meant non-ethanol?

I saw a guy put 50 gallons of gas in a rod holder once [:0]

Yeah, the race gas - 100-110 octane is leaded - smells good too! But most don’t understand that the it requires a much higher compression ratio to burn it properly. Leaves a white chalky film in the exhaust and valves as well. Definitely not recommended for your average marine engine - unless of course your running triple stroker inboards and want run 100 mph+ in 6 X 6 seas, lol
I wholesale gasoline and diesel, and strongly believe that ethanol is the biggest hoax ever imposed on the people of this country. It costs us billions, and it benefits nobody but the ethanol producers. Yes, ethanol-free gasoline is available ( 87 and 90 octane ) at terminals in the upstate , but not in Charleston to the best of my knowledge. Also, suppliers charge us 35 cents per gallon more for it than ethanol blended gas. It is not the oil companies’ fault.
That’s a lot of non gas for even ethanol mixed gasoline. Sounds like you got some &@&$ gas…Didn’t leave your cap off during that time did ya…? I did it once and it sucked.

Which blows my mind because at the pump ethanol gas pumps state they “contain 10% ethanol or less” so how can they constitute charging over a $1.00 more per gallon for ethanol free gas when you take that into consideration?! Just add 10% to non-ethanol fuel prices and we’re square - one could argue

That’s hard to believe, I can even get it in Clyo, GA. If you go to www.pure-gas.org you can find a list of stations that carry it in every city. This is what I came up with in Charleston. Sorry, formatting did not come out well in my cut and paste.

Payed 2.55 a gallon for ethanol free on the farms last bulk purchase, worth every penny for the headaches it saves plus the ability to filter it again before putting it in any equipment/boat/trucks/ect.
About the same here, it usually is about $.50 more a gallon, but it’s worth it to me in the headaches it saves. Especially for yard equipment and outboards that sometimes sit a while without use.

It will get a lot more expensive relative to ethanol blended gas, and harder to find, unless the people who run this country change their priorities.
Larry , bought it in Suwanee, Fla. , but it was trucked all the way from North Augusta, S. C.
