Water pump replacement update

Well…I was pretty nervous about the job, but I jumped right in and got’er done. I watched multiple YouTube videos and saw multiple shift lever connections…and none were the same as my 2003 J90PLSTC. It took me about 3 hrs of frustration to figure out how to disconnect the shifter linkage, but once I figured it out, I was off to the races. The old pump wasn’t in as bad of shape as I was expecting, but the cup did have some small grooves and the impeller had taken a form…so, I got the new pump installed, got the lower unit back on, shifter linkage hooked up, changed the plugs(while I had it all opened up), got the lower cover and cowling back on, hooked up the ears and fired her up…I now have much more water pressure than I’ve had since I purchased this boat. Overall, I’m glad I tackled it…I learned a lot and have a big sense of accomplishment.

All torn apart…

Old pump removed…

New water pump installed…

I’ve got a short video of the final test run, but I cannot figure out how to post it.
