Water Pump Replacement

I’m going to pull my lower unit off of my 2002 225 OX66 Yamaha to replace the impeller. Should I also go ahead and replace my water pump as well? There is no problem with either but I wondering if this is a good preventative measure or if I’m wasting my money. Ideas? Suggestions?

Replace with a complete kit, not just the impeller.

I don’t know how many hours you have put on it but I only put about 50 max on a new pump/assembly.

Per Mercury manual, change every 300 hours, or sooner if reduced pressure is noticed.

Do the kit for sure

Go ahead and buy the plastic bushing also. They are hard to get off unharmed.

and you put the last pump on it. He has my old Grady. I know I only put about 50 hours on that pump. I think it’s ok but I understand wanting to have peace of mind.
