Getting ready for the 200 hour service and want to see what you guys think. I have yamaha 250 engines so at 200 hours it says to replace the water pumps. I dont have any cooling issues would it be ok to streatch this to 300 hours? Just curious what the rest of you guys are doing.
Replace it. Waiting for cooling issues is a recipe for significantly shortening engine life.

I agree with PalmerScott. I replaced mine at 232 hours and two of the vanes were broken and I had no cooling issues.

It has more to do with age than use. I’ve seen frequently used motors with 500 hours that had impellers that looked like new.

I just replaced mine and the impeller was about 300 hrs of use, and it looked almost new. Just a little wear at the tips of the splines. Replaced it anyway and now I know I’m good for another couple years!
This was my first attempt to replace it myself and its really pretty simple.

What is the process to change them? Is there an online guide that you found?
I did a lot of google searching which helped. Also Jay and ChrisV gave me a lot of advice and tips when I bought the kit, and lastly, I picked up a Seloc manual for my motor and I am glad I did.
