Slow but a beautiful day on the water. Cleared Dewees at 5am and had lines in at 6.30am in 130ft after a smooth ride out. Had a solid double knock down within the first 10 minutes which both turned out two good size AJ’s within the 40 to 50# range…released them.
Trolled around with no action so we pushed into deeper water near the 380 but could not find any rips, temp breaks nor weeds. Around 11am we caught a 30 to 35# dolphin. Missed a few solid hits over the next hour then picked up and headed for edisto banks. On the way we saw a pod of tuna busting on the surface but we could not get the baits across them. A couple came out of the water and my buddy who used to work on a LLR said he was sure they were YF.
Saw a right whale surface about 200 yards away…Seeing a 3ft wake appear out of nowhere on a slick calm day was very impressive sight.
Trolled back through the ledge and missed something very large that bent the flatline rod all the way down to the transom door (thought it was going to snap for a second). Pulled lines in at 2.30pm and ran in at 35mph. Slow day but at least we have dinner tonight…
