Wateree Advice

I’ve never fished Wateree and I’m supposed to take some guys out Saturday - hoping to find stripers. I didn’t see anything from previous posts that talked about this time of year. We are staying mid lake at the state park and will be in my 39 year old pontoon, so we won’t be moving anywhere fast.

Always get great help from cf.com! Let me know what you think!

Just cruise around and look for the birds. They will be on the bait and usually so will the fish. Most of the time up in the larger coves. If you see several boats in a given area they likely are on them.

Try cut bait fishing using shad fished in water from 2’ to 16’ off some of the points near the park on the main lake! Be sure to double anchor the boat and use rod holders Good luck!

Very few birds this time of year. Upper third of the lake is the most productive now.

Thanks guys- will let you know if we get into any

I caught a couple yesterday trolling 1oz rat l traps in about 17 feet of water, The river channel in that lakes moves a lot. Make sure you are on the side with high ground. Cut bait works but you will catch mostly catfish in that lake.
