Did they ever open the boat landing? That’s the best place I know of for small (Chum Size) shad? I can fill a large cooler in a few throws of the net. But not off of the platform. I gonna fish this year!!!
Hasn’t been closed that I’m aware of. Ramp at Hwy#1 was about 2 yrs ago to re-build it. Been open for a while. At #1 go south to pipe outflow from poop plant. Once warmer you can catch loads of shad there. Below dam there is fish platform I’ve seen people net shad from. (and fish)

Been a while, year before last? Maybe two years??? The ramp at the dam was being reconstructed! Tried the ramp at hwy 1, the water was too low to find any shad. The folks at the platform at the dam like the metal dip nets, it just takes too long to get the quantities I’m looking for, hundreds of pounds! Ill grind them up, add Menhaden milk and freeze in one gallon ziplock bags. Excellent chum for Catfish and Cobia.
