Where do i get most accurate wave predictions? NOAA says 3-6 but there is a huge difference between a 3 and a 6 foot wave.
I look forward to opinions on this question. I like format of windfinder.com but am not sure how dependable it is yet. Maybe someone will share info from weather seminar at Haddrells earlier this week. Actually I’m hoping to find good way to update forecast even while on water, since I got beat up last week.

Reefcast,
The important part is the period.
Sailflow and Stormsurf.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

NOAA’s 3 to 6 forecast is from 20 NM out to the 1000 fathom curve. The smaller waves will be closer in, and the larger ones further out closer to the 1000 fathom curve, over 100 miles out. Learn how to use sailflow and reefcast where you can select the area you will be in, and get more detailed info on waves, period, and wind on a timeline.

Yup. Sailflow, Stormsurf and Reefcast. I like to use as many as I can to get a good average. If you only look at one source, then you are limiting yourself on some good info.
I use wind finder and sail flow. I have noticed wind finder is more accurate on the buoy forecast sail flow is better at a specific area.

Not any pro, but what I am seeing is 3 to 4 foot swells at eight seconds at that distance. But you may have wind waves on top of that.

For my part in the mosquito fleet off shore group, (as a general rule) if it’s forecast bigger than 3, closer than about 6, and winds better than 15 . . . . I won’t plan on going. If the weather guy is off his mark and that becomes 5’s at 5, with 20 knots . . . it’s a really bad ride. Like Long Enuff is pointing out, the swell can be complicated by the wind blown stuff on top of them.
X2 Sirecks, wind should be added to wave report. I figure any wind over 15 mph will almost double the size, except for allowing for direction of wind of course too.
Any wind going from shore is going to stand the waves up higher, from offshore will lay them down.
