I do love some dock fishing… Had to travel to DC for work and as we were talking fishing he was like I have a new spot.
Potomac river blue cats… The suckers were eating mullet heads… Not sure they have ever seen a mullet but they liked them! He started tying the FG braid to leader and using 20lb flouro. He’s learning a little from visiting down south…
We have been talking about drop shot for reds in deeper water and also the shaky head with a finesse worm in the grass. I would see those working out

Couple of nice ones! Is that water brackish? Friend of mine caught his biggest cat (flathead) on a little tiny live mullet a few years back. Check it out here…

Where we were is the very very beginning of the brackish part of the potomac. According to google the brackish/fresh waterline is around Indian Head and that was about a quarter mile down and across the river from us. The fact that this part of the river is tidal tells me that water had some salinity level.
Your buddies cat was a PIG! My brother in laws biggest there is 25lbs and the guy who owns the dock has landed a 40+.
